X-Car for Drayton Manor?
Screamscape reports that Drayton Manor may get a Maurer X-Car with vertical lift and three inversions, for 2005 as well. Exciting! |

Re: X-Car for Drayton Manor!
Maurer Söhne confirmed the coaster today:
Well, it is "only" 385metres long, but it will be possible to make the coaster longer in the future. The station will be in a height of 10 metres...

That layout looks nice, I like the first hill which starts climbing at a 45 degree angle and then goes vertical. The rest of the layout looks like it flows nicely, not a big coaster but looks fun. In2Oblivion.

Re: Barnstorm
Thanks hatt. It looks a very interesting ride. The X-Car looks fantastic. From the picture, it looks like it's in sitdown looper mode, but it looks like it has just as much legroom as the floorless X-Car. A few stats from RCDB: Name: Barnstorm
Those last two inversions basically look like immelmans to me - the UK's first (we've got Vekoma sidewinders). It's interesting that these can be extended. In fact, before they became known as "X-Car" coasters, I seem to remember them being called "Xtendable" or "modular". I always thought modular referred to how the vehicles were made up (and could be altered) but I suppose it refers to the track as well. In theory, I could see a helix and some sort of barrel roll or inline twist fitting on the end of the Drayton one. I think any extra elements would be after the "immelmans". That said, I think Skyline Park is far more likely to extend than Drayton. By the way, this coaster will replace Klondike (Pinfari ZL42), which is replacing the Galaxi at Funland, Hayling Island. It's not known who will get the Galaxi, but it's thought it will stay in the UK. The funny thing is, Hayling Island is just a tiny bit east from Clarence Pier, Southsea, who also have a Galaxi. East from Hayling Island is Brighton Pier, who have a, wait for it...ZL42! :) |
