Ultimate BGW trivia quiz....

So are you tired of the quizzes yet? Here is another for BGW fans. Good luck! Answers will be posted Wednesday.

Shaggy

1. In what year did Busch Gardens Williamsburg open?

2. What is the total amount of coasters that have operated at Busch Gardens Williamsburg?

3. What was the name of the children's area prior to "Land of the Dragons" being installed?

4. Name a ride that has been located in three different places in the park and in which areas it has resided.

5. What obscure TV personality filmed a network special at BGW in the late 1970's that featured a ride on the Loch Ness Monster?

6. Name the challenge game that was the focal point of Threadneedle Fair when it opened. I'll give you a hint, it was removed because it was considered dangerous.

7. How are the cargo props in the que for Loch Ness Monster labled?

8. What was the name of the haunted/fun house once located in the park?

9. What is the name of the troublesome assistant in the show "The Enchanted Laboratory of Nostramos the Magnificent."

10. Name the first attraction removed from Festa Italia.

**BONUS** What attraction was originally located in the spot where DaVinci's Cradle resides?

**BONUS** When the Wild Maus was first added, it was to be a temporary attraction. What was it called, and why was it called that?

I remember riding it a while ago, is it just a himalaya? I also remember like Dragon or something that was like a himalaya except the cars spun as the thing spun around the room.

Re: What was the Trade Wind

The trade wind was a himilaya where the cars looked like little ships and they swayed (but not completely spun) from side to side. There was another one that went around and had a fountain thing in the middle and a dragon was on the inside of it. I forgot what this was called. These were removed for Apollo's Chariot, along with some various stalls and buildings. Also, didnt those little boat things (the ones that were like remote control) get removed also?

the swinging ladders, but I don't know the name

The Catapult (the scrambler used to be inside

Having played this character for two years, it's safe to say that the answer to number 8 is incorrect. Although Nostramos the Magnificent was the wizard of the lab, the apprentice's name was Northrup.

I'll take a stab, but some of the pre 1980's ones are going to be difficult.

> Shaggy

1975 (year I was born:)

Hmmm,
Wild Katze, Glissade, Loch Ness, Big Bad, Drachen, Maus/Izzy, Alpengeist, Apollo, Griffon, Grover. I count 10.

Eagle's Nest, under the log flume.

Der Katapult (Scrambler)
Hastings (in the building)
San Marco
Oktoberfest

Was it the archery?

I didn't remember it at first, but it is Loch Ness Expedition. Even on the busiest days, it's rare to find the queue line going down there anymore.

My favorite place to get sent when Drachen Fire was overstaffed, Wild Izzy for the '96 Atlanta Olympics.

10 is the wrong answer because (1) At the time this question was asked in June 2000, BGE had only operated a total of 8 coasters and (2) You forgot Das Kätzchen, the old kiddie coaster in Grimm's Hollow so the total to date would be 11 coasters that the park has operated in it's entire history.

I miss that Sea Dragon thing. I know they had to get rid of it to be part of the Queue line for Apollo's chariot, but it would've been nice if they relocated to maybe Germany where Drachen Fire used to be or something.

Lol, oh wait, nm. I didn't even notice how long ago this post was. But point still stands, I missed that ride :(

If I'm not too much in a hurry, I might also walk down to see the rest of Loch Ness's queue line and take some pics as well. I wondered how much longer the line was down there.

heh... good call on the post resurrection! I think I remember this quiz from back in the day. Turvey Manor Fun House... one of the earliest memories I have of Busch Gardens. Re: Ultimate BGW trivia quiz....

I was just wondering about the Gladiators Guantlet if it was trashed or sold to another park. Theres the exact same ride in the UK called the Rack at Camelot Theme Park. You can even find a couple utube videos of this ride by typing in the Rack Camelot.I saw GG in 87 but next time I returned in 95 it was gone. What a ride to watch looks fun more than thrilling.Fun rides are great also, what a spectacular to watch.Wish they just moved it somewhere else in the park.

Re: Ultimate BGW trivia quiz....

Gladiator's Gauntlet goes down in the history books as one of the most decieving rides ever built.

It rivals the former "Quake" at SFKK for looking terrific to the spectator. However, for the riders, it was BOOOOOOOORING!

BGW, no doubt, heard whines of those exiting the ride... a long wait and slow load process for a ride less thrilling than a rocking chair.

The thing was also remarkably complex for what little thrill it delivered.

I would suspect it met the trash heap. It was actually removed far prior to Apollo ever being built.

Yeah that ride didn't really provide any thrills and it was really slow.

I also had heard that the park didn't operate it to its full potential. A friend of mine from college worked there in the late 80s and she said she'd seen the ride test many times where it flipped upside down. She said the park never ran it that way because the insurance was too high for that.
