China Forcing Residents To Move For Disney Theme Park

You may find this Bloomberg article interesting about how the Chinese government is forcing the relocation of residents for the Disney theme park.

Shanghai Farmers Lose Fields as Disney Builds Magic Kingdom

Walt Disney Co.’s newest castle may rise from the Shanghai fields where retired farmer Jin Xinmei and her husband grow Chinese cabbage, potatoes and strawberries to supplement their $103 monthly pension.

The fact that the compensation isn't known is interesting. You may find it odd that there is a rush to buy land around the proposed theme park. However, what does buying land mean when the government can seize it at anytime with or without proper compensation?

Impressive, Thunderbolt. We have talked about that case in my planning law class this semester at Texas.
