Gotta luv the European's liberal SOP for employees. No way they would allow ops to walk the ride like that to spin the cars here in the States! Paul |

They don't allow it but its still done. One ride in particular is the Cedar Downs and Rye's Downs ride. Chuck, who thinks thats allowed due to the need to possibly help people during the ride |

merry-go-round fun
When I worked at Kennywood many moons ago, I was a Kiddieland employee. We would be assigned to a different ride each day. I learned that on merry-go-round days, it was best if I slept on the floor that night as I was going to end up there anyway from spinning in my dreams. I loved hanging onto the outer support poles and doing spins or jumps on and off the platform. Definitely more fun than the backbreaking job of lifting sweaty kids onto the motorboats. The Mini Bouncer in Kiddieland is similar to the ride mentioned in the post above, but the cars rotate on their own. Even so, the ride still regularly won the annual "Kiddieland puke award." I'm sure the smell of honeysuckle and funnel cakes on hot days, added to the slow spin of the cars and platform helped to guarantee that the ride would win this prestigious award each year. By the way, it was usually the parents who puked, not the kids! |
