Halloween at Parks
As compared to the average attendance at amusement parks during the sundry Halloween celebrations, are parks more or less crowded on Halloween Day itself? I'm not sure I've ever gone to a park on that day. It's my late Mom's birthday, So I always did something with her..and she wasn't a lady who enjoyed amusement parks. So this year will be the first year since she passed that Halloween falls on a weekend, and it's under consideration. Does anyone have any personal Halloween park experiences to share? It's always been my favorite day of the year. Mike |

Re: Halloween at Parks
It's been our experience, in the past, the closer it gets to Halloween, the busier the park is. In 2007 we trekked to Universal Orlando for Halloween Horror nights on Halloween (which was a Wednesday) and it was extremely busy, 3+ lines. Thanks to front of the line passes we were able to experience all the haunts. Yesterday we were at Kings Island for the Haunt, lines for some of the house were 2 hours. I hear Fridays aren't quite as busy. We arrived at 5:30PM, rode Diamondback, Flight of Fear, did two haunts (Slaughter House & Cemetary Dr,) saw both shows and ended the night with a very good Beast ride So, IMHO I think the Halloween events at parks have become so sucessful that they are crowded almost every night. That said, weather can sometimes effect the attendence, especially when there are a lot of local SP holders (ie Kings Island.) |

What did you think of Slaughter House? Laurie and I did four other haunts on Friday night, the night before you were there, and heard mixed reviews about Slaughter House. We hoped to do Urgent Scare but the line was too long, and were worn out before we got around to Slaughter House and I'm curious if it would be worth a return visit. Thanks. |

Re: Halloween at Parks
I was going to ask a similar question about Halloween because I'm looking to visit SFoT and possibly SFFT over that weekend, and I'm worried about the crowds. I saw this post and just decided to join in. I've read somewhere that at least in Texas, celebrating Halloween is serious enough that FrightFest days are among the largest attendance days of the year. Because of that, I'll probably try to go to SFoT on Sunday right after Halloween, even though Fri/Sat would be otherwise better logistically. Personally, I'm not too big on Halloween and neither is anyone else I'm traveling with. And since I've never been to these parks before, the object is to go on a bunch of rides. Question is this. If the parks are really crowded, does that mean the ride lines are excessively long as well, or do most people just mainly go to partake in the haunted houses and special shows? Ben |
