Six Flags employees step inside

All I can say is the whole phase 1 thru 5 weather policy needs some major overhauling. I attended SFSTL this weekend and lemme tell you if my daughter fell like this girl did while exiting a ride, I would have been infuriated!! The weather policy needs to be addressed. I am not dissatisfied with how the park operated just with the whole "Company Policy" and what they tell there employee's to do.

You're going to have to explain your post a bit before I can attempt any kind of reply. I have no clue what the policies you are talking about are, or what the girl falling had anything to do with it. Help us out.

Re: Six Flags employees step inside

The ride op was explaining the policy in regaurds to weather. They have 5 phases.
Phase 1 is keep an eye out.
Phase 2 is shutdown some of the taller rides and flats due to lightning risk and/or rain.
Phase 3 is shut all rides down.
Phase 4 is clear all people from the queue areas of rides and employees must leave.
Phase 5 is gather people into storm shelters.

My problem was this. They told us at the ride that it was closing due to approaching weather. Fine no problem. They announced to everyone they we could wait up in the queue area which only made sense since it was a covered wooden structure. The other option was to exit through the entrance. In the mean time while I was talking to this person the storm comes up and starts pouring. I'm from KS so this storm wasn't extreme by all means. After about 10 minutes the ride ops are like well we are now going to phase 4 so everyone must clear out. That set off over half the folks as everyone would have left prior to the rain and lightning. As far as safety of the GUEST this policy needs to be reversed. Why would they not make people leave the ride area prior to this. Seems as though if the ride is going to close than they have no need to keep everyone there. My biggest complaint and what really upset me about the whole deal was the teenage girl that fell terribly 2 times exiting the line area. She had to go to the first aid station and I bet she was very sore the next day. It was freaking pouring and the whole entire line of The Boss is made out of wood. All the "grip paint" that had been applied when the ride was new clearly worn off. I just felt the whole situation could have been handled differently.
If there is a number that I can contact that would be great or even if I sent a letter to them as well. I just think that the corp. office may need to make a change or two to the weather policy. I'm not at all a hater or anything I just don't like to see these kind of things happen.

Re: Six Flags employees step inside

You're talking about two entirely different topics. The slip and fall is unrelated to Six Flags' policy of not allowing guests to reside in a station during severe weather. There are surfaces all over the park that when wet may be slippery. It's a hazard of life.

I've learned from experience that it's best to move to a store or restaurant just before a storm moves in. I was in the Superman station at Fiesta Texas last year and they also had us leave the station when it started to downpour.

I still don't understand what your beef is with this policy. You can't occupy a ride station that isn't staffed.

My point is that when a ride is closed or "on hold" they should go ahead and clear the station and lines. Instead of allowing people to hang out then force you out during the storm. Had everyone been told to clear out we all would have left on a dry walking surface. Like I said I just feel like this situation may help the park look into some of the policies concearning guests. As far as maintainence goes if I see something i usually mention it to someone at the front gate.

I understand what you're saying and the passion with which you express your concerns.
Tell Guest Relations at the park exactly what you told us here.

Good luck---and YES....that Boss line has to be the longest Q next to Dueling Dragons. And wow would it be slippery when wet. Been there, done that.

Re: Six Flags employees step inside

Thank You for that. I had forgotten about IOA down there. We waited 1.5 hrs. for Hulk once. I just know that my granddaughter is absolutely HOOKED on coasters now that she is a big girl (55"). She passed the WOF test last month for Patriot so I took her over to SFSTL this past Saturday. It took all day but she finally rode Superman and lemme tell you that was the best photo I took all day after we got off that one. Grin ear to ear!
