SFNE This Saturday

SFNE This Saturday

Sort of unexpectedly going to SFNE this Saturday...it'll be my second visit. First was two or three years ago. My companion is visiting for the first time.

Questions:

Bizarro first? S:ROS was my second favorite steel, so I'm not expecting much different from Biz, except for the lame soundtrack and so-so special FX. Are they the same as the Coaster Formerly Known As Medusa at GAdv?

I really wanted to ride Catapult as much as anything, but it was closed my previous visit during Fright Fest. Has it been operational recently?

Saturday crowds? Stupid question...

Any other advice and tips will be greatly appreciated. This is a one-day trip...no overnight. It's about a three hour ride from here. My companion is driving seven hours to get HERE, so I'll do the driving in her car.

Mike will also need advice on local restaurants (preferably KFC).

Re: SFNE This Saturday

We popped in there last Saturday night for three hours. Very very crowded. Bizarro was a 60 min wait. We got a ride on Bizarro, a ride on Pandemonium, using the single rider line, and a front seat ride in the dark on Bizarro before closing. The last ride on Bizarro made the trip worth while.

Advice - The weather looks good for this Saturday. If you really want to cover everything in one day you are going to need a Flash Pass, probably gold. Make sure you do Bizarro at night - in the front. The ride has changed. The speakers hinder the view to some extent, especially for shorter people. Thus the front is even more important.

Hope this helps

No, no ... not ... not ... not the ... the FRONT! This is Beastmaster you're talking to. You'd have to pry him kicking and screaming out of the back seat and chain him in the front.

VERY true, but with the Flash Pass - he can ride it a few times so once in the front won't kill him (or will it? :-)!

Don't I get a say in this? Everybody's fighting over me and I wasn't even present!

Don't know if we'll get FP or not...it's a thought. The only time I've ever used it was when you let me share yours last August at SFGAdv..has it really been almost a year? Although my only ride on S:ROS three years ago was in the back seat, natch, it did appear to be a ride where the front seat would be a pretty amazing ride. Also, it's steel, so I fail to detect a huge difference between seats, except at the start of a drop. So maybe we'll try for two consecutive rides, one at each end. best of both worlds, ya know?

Chains work for me.

It's like people talking about you like you're not there when you're in the same room! :~)

Splurge and get the flash pass - at least the cheap one (the one we had at SFGA) so you can do more!

Have fun!!

I'm hoping we're going to get a trip report. Did you bag any new coasters, Mike?

Oh no, still no word from Mike. Do you think someone really chained him to the front seat on Bizzaro and he's still there? (LOL!)

Just one. I thought it was gonna be two. I skipped FlashBack because of the wait, but my 44 year old brain forgot I had also passed it over on my maiden visit in '06 because Cyclone opened while I waited for FB, and Mr. C. was FAR more important to me.
So I drove yesterday over 300 miles round trip for ONE credit..on a junior coaster, no less...the Great Chase!

Here I am, Jen! Your fellow Jerseyite made it out alive, but there were no chains involved. I only took one ride on Bizzy, in the back seat, and was sorely disappointed. The Bizarro theming and effects didn't bother me...kind of cool actually. But I didn't enjoy the ride as much as I did on my only previous ride. Precious little airtime, even less forces, and it just felt like it had been toned down somehow.

I'm unsure when/if I'll be able to do a full report, but I wanted to share this thought.

Didn't get the Flash Pass, and we left before dark due to the 3+ hour ride home. We did go back over in the early afternoon, but the line was into the locker room..and I'm not yanking anyone's chain. It actually was.
