Most Chaotic Coaster.....

We've all seen the questions about what we think the roughest, smoothest, funnest, best coaster is, but I don't think we've ever asked what the most chaotic coaster is. When I say chaotic I mean absolutely crazy, leaves your head spinning from the point you leave the lift hill until when or even after you hit the brakes. I think that either Roar @ SFA or Talon @ Dorney Park. Roar because the first drop is surprising in the back and from then on it's nothing but airtime, head choppers and sometimes even smashing into the rider next to you. Talon because the last time I rode it it was with my best friend who had never been on the ride before and she screamed like I never heard her scream before the entire ride. That combined with the already hectic layout of the ride makes it chaotic to me. What about you?

Re: Most Chaotic Coaster.....

There are a few rides which I feel might compare to
what you are talking about.

The first one would be the Beast at Kings Island. I
haven't been on it in a few years, but, it certainly
can be called chaotic. the first Time you ride it, you
will have no idea of where you are going. And, the double helix at the end of the ride is so insanely fast, you might think the train will jump the track at any moment. A very exciting ride.

Next would be Shivering Timbers. There is very
powerfull air of this coaster. The first drop is
awesome, and the coaster flys through the entire
course, and doesn't give up any of it's speed.
The trick-track is a surprise if you aren't ready
for it, and the double helix at the end is filled
with G's. By far the best wooden coaster..period.

Cornball express, at indiana beach, is another coaster that will surprise you. It's suprising, because it isn't a big coaster. But it's drops are fast, and
you get a lot of airtime. You get the feeling of
being on a great coaster, when your riding Cornball.
It's very exciting...ride after ride.

For total insanity. I would have to say that X-flight
at The former six flags WOA offers a very insane ride.

It is the only coaster I have been on, where I thanked
God for the seat belt! The swoop turn after the first
drop makes you wonder if the harness will hold.

The verticle loop is it's only edge over the B&M
Superman ride at great America. (Superman is better)
The double corkscrew at the end was crazy. But,
like Superman..the ride could have been a lot longer.

Millennium Force also makes the list. The fast trip
up the steep cable lift could be a ride by itself.
The ride packs insane speed, (Over 90 miles an hour
just 30 miles an hour slower than top thrill dragster.)
If it had just a few more hills, it would be the best
coaster on the planet.

Re: Most Chaotic Coaster.....

X - talk about chaotic. I never know which direction I am heading, which way is up, or when or what way the next turn will be. It is so wierd to be facing the sky one moment, then be flipped around, and, while still looking "up", see the ground screaming at you. Plus, with so many supports, there are plenty of head choppers.

Ghostrider - This is the most chaotic woodie I have ever been on. It is extrememly itnense and violent - not in a painful way; I just mean it throws speed, airtime, and turns right at you and never lets up. It has attitude. Plus, Ghostrider has the most insane element I have ever experienced on a Woodie. Wackozacko tried to figure it ouy, but after 5 rides, we are still awe-struck. When the coaster dives after the 180 degree slow turn-around, it takes a mean turn to the left, and on the banked turn, we got wicked air time, every ride. We can't explain exactly what the track does, but it is a flying air turn that is unbelievable.

The most Choatic? X, from the lift to the break run, you have no f*kin' clue where your'e going. It is disorinating "to the xtreme". =)

Another chotic coaster would have to be the Pheonix at Knoebel's. That ride has some serious airtime. I was afraid to keep my arms up.

I'll also mension Ghostrider. Ghostrider has a perfect combination of air, laterals, and unrelenting speed. Night rides on this aren't to be missed.

Re: Most Chaotic Coaster.....

I'll have to agree with previous posters that "X" is about the most chaotic ride I've been on. From going up the lift backwards, and that face down dive, to the end, I never knew which way was up, down, or sideways. I got to tide 4 times in a row during an ERT last March, and still wasn't sure of the complete layout. lol

My first rides on Ghostrider were also pretty Chaotic, as they were at the Coaster Solace during "Ghostrider in the Dark" ERT session. I had no idea what the layout was. Thats a great way to experience a coaster for the first time. Wish I could experience all new coasters that way.

Oh yeah I forgot about Beast. The first time I rode it it was at night and it might've possibly been the most disorienting experience I've ever had. I had no idea where the tunnels, or hills were, and the double helix was crazy. The speed when you go thru that thing makes you feel like you might fly off the track!

I haven't been to SFMM or SFGA, so I'll go with either mantis or raptor, because neither have very much straight track

One coaster that I hadn't seen up here that would fit into this category... Thunderhead at Dollywood. The upward zig zag on the fan curve is supposed to be out of this word for airtime. I've wanted to go back to Tennessee, have a reason now.

Re: Most Chaotic Coaster.....

Yeah... ive gotta say shivering timbers cuz its my absolute favorite coaster. I havnt ridden it in a couple years but i know that its pretty chaotic which you wouldnt expect from a simple out-and-back coaster. I think the raptor is pretty chaotic. If you ride it at night you cant tell if your upside down or not. I dont know about Mantis though. I thought it was kinda boring. Millenium is a good one too. Mostly because of the endless speed and the super high backs. You keep going from one side to the other back and forth and forth and back and forth.

Re: Most Chaotic Coaster.....

I have to agree with Shivering Timbers. I've only been to MiAd once (2001) and was wowed by the airtime on that ride.

X Flight at Geauga Lake should also be on the list, especially since it's even better at night. That first flip at the top of the lift hill still gets me three years after it opened.

Villain at Geauga Lake. Sure it's a little rough in spots but the consistent speed it keeps gives it a wild and chaotic ride. Again, a night ride is a must as there are no lights on it at all.

I might be crazy but the much cloned B:TR's consectutive loop/heartline roll/loop can make your head spin at the speed the train goes.

Re: Most Chaotic Coaster.....

For me, I'd have to say the Cyclone at SFNE, at night. That thing really kicks your butt from start to finish. It's wild, it's insane, it ain't called Cyclone for nothin' ;-) I think it's the only coaster I ever thought really might jump the track and sail right over the edge on some of those turns...especially the turn before the third drop.

Just my opinion

LoCoSuMo @ Indiana Beach: Chaotic in a BAD way!

Talk about chaos! Talk about not knowing how OR WHERE to brace yourself against the next onslaught of coaster torture!!!

This one takes the cake.

The others described by posters in this thread sound like CHAOTIC FUN. I did not find LoCoSTUMo to be fun in any way, shape nor form. Chaotic, yes. Fun, no.

Re: Most Chaotic Coaster.....

For me, there are two: The Raptor at Cedar Point, and Thunderhawk (f.k.a. Serial Thriller) at Geauga Lake, although I will say that the Thunderhawk is more chaotic than Raptor by a good margin. Even though you can see the entire ride before you get on, once you go down that first hill, you have no idea where Thunderhawk is going to take you next.

I would also have to say the Mean Streak at CP is pretty chaotic, as is the Gemini, which has some surprising speed and there is a lot more to it than it seems just by looking at it.

I forgot to mention the Outter Limits at PKI can get pretty chaotic. You really have no idea what to expect, much less what's going on while you are riding.

Re: Most Chaotic Coaster.....

Put my vote in for SFNE Cyclone. I have never been forced to scream for my life as I did the single evening ride me and my friends got on this coaster a few years ago. We were all screaming like little girls. The drops on this ride are downright nasty, and the train shakes and shuffles its way through each turn. There is a genuine feeling that you will die on this ride.

Pete
