Formerly Six Flags Darien Lake. New York State's largest theme park and resort, Darien Lake is located between Buffalo and Rochester and just a short drive from Niagara Falls. The theme park and water park features more than 100 rides, shows and attractions including six world-class roller coasters, a collection of exciting amusement rides and a 20,000 seat outdoor concert venue showcasing top music acts. On site lodging choices include a 163-room themed hotel, RV rentals and 1,200 site campground.
Darien Lake started as a campground, not a theme park. In 1964 a pair of water slides were added to the campground and eventually came the amusement rides and roller coasters. Premier Parks purchased Darien Lake in 1995 and four years later (1999) the park was re-branded a Six Flags theme park. In April 2007, Six Flags completes the sale of the park to a new operator and Darien Lake drops the Six Flags name.
