Myrtle Beach Pavilion Park

Rule

Myrtle Beach, SC

2006 was the farewell season for The Pavilion. After 57 seasons this 11 1/2 acre amusement park closed on September 24, 2006. One final farewell to The Pavilion event was held on Saturday, September 30. Park owner, Burroughs & Chapin plans to redevelop the property into a new upscale entertainment attraction, and gone forever is the amusement park, the largest seaside amusement park south of New Jersey.

Located at the corner of Ocean and 9th Avenues one block from the beach, Myrtle Beach Pavilion Park featured 36 rides including three roller coasters and two water rides and attractions like two go-kart tracks, games, shops and restaurants. The large Hurricane: Category 5 wooden roller coaster ran along one border of the park, while a historic 1912 Herschell-Spillman Carousel made turns with a 1958 German Baden Band Organ inside the park. A mix of thrilling spinning rides and a log flume were among the other rides offered. Myrtle Beach Pavilion Park operates April through September.
