Luna Park Melbourne

Melbourne, Victoria
The first of two Luna Parks still operating in Australia, this one is located on the foreshore Port Phillip Bay in St Kilda, Victoria, an inner suburb of Melbourne. The original Luna Park was built at Coney Island New York in 1903. The Melbourne park was designed and built in 1912 by T.H.Eslick and twenty builders from Coney Island for two North American entrepreneurs. The second Luna Park in Australia is located in Sydney Harbour. The entrance to Luna Park Melbourne features the iconic "Mr. Moon" gateway. Inside the amusement parks has 17 rides and attractions, including the oldest continually-operating roller coaster in the world, the Great Scenic Railway and a 1913 hand-carved carousel. There is no admission fee. Rides are pay-as-you-go or you can purchase an all-day ride pass.
