This classic, figure-8 wooden coaster is patterned after the world famous 1927 Coney Island Cyclone. In 1975, Astroworld hired William Cobb to design and build the Texas Cyclone after the park's attempt to relocate the original failed. At the time the original Coney Island Cyclone was in danger of being torn down. Unfortunately, the park's plan was found to be too expensive, so instead Astroworld had Cobb build a replica. Texas Cyclone differs from the original, because it is a mirror image.
