Steel Phantom

Kennywood
Built by Arrow Dynamics in 1991, Steel Phantom was by far the largest of Arrow's megalooping roller coasters. The design to combined the elements of the emerging hypercoaster, with four inversions from Arrow's looping roller coasters. Following a terrain layout, Steel Phantom featured a record breaking 225-foot drop and top speed of 82 mph. The signature second drop was designed to dive beneath the wooden structure of Kennywood's Thunderbolt roller coaster. Steel Phantom closed at the end of the 2000 season when Kennywood hired Morgan Manufacturing to modify it. Today, portions of the Steel Phantom live on as the Phantom's Revenge roller coaster.
