Phantom's Revenge

Kennywood
Taking out the Steel Phantom, which had again been voted one of the world's top five coasters, was not an easy decision. But faced with increasing competition and shortage of space to build a spectacular ride elsewhere in the park, Harry Henninger decided that marketing came first, so he made the tough call. Then it became apparent to him that Kennywood could have the best of both worlds - keeping the best of the Phantom, not only improving it, but attracting a wider market. The result is an even faster (82-mph) roller coaster, with a longer drop (228-feet). New thrills, including an underground tunnel exiting between the Thunderbolt and Turtle, replace the loops and corkscrew of the Steel Phantom. The end product is a rebirth akin to the Thunderbolt after the Pippin.
