Phantom's Revenge

Rule

Kennywood

Taking out the Steel Phantom, which had again been voted one of the world's top five coasters, was not an easy decision. But faced with increasing competition and shortage of space to build a spectacular ride elsewhere in the park, Harry Henninger decided that marketing came first, so he made the tough call. Then it became apparent to him that Kennywood could have the best of both worlds – keeping the best of the Phantom, but while improving it and attracting a wider market. The result is Phantom's Revenge, an even faster (82-mph) roller coaster, with a longer drop (228-feet) and new thrills, including an underground tunnel exiting between the Thunderbolt and Turtle and airtime hills replacing the loops and corkscrew of the Steel Phantom. Phantom's Revenge is a rebirth akin to the Thunderbolt after the Pippin.
