Worlds of Fun announced that the Orient Express roller coaster was retired from service at the end of the 2003 season. Constructed in 1980 by Arrow Development (Mountain View, CA), the venerable Orient Express gave millions of thrilling rides to Worlds of Fun guests over the 24 seasons it operated.

April 4, 1980 - Orient Express debuts at Worlds of Fun
Fact: Orient Express is the first roller coaster to feature a "Kamikazee Kurve" double inverting element that was later called a "Boomerang" by Arrow.
2003 - Orient Express closed and dismantled at the end of the season.
Trains have seven cars with two rows each, seating two abreast per row.
Ride capacity: 1,800 passengers per hour
