Stengel Engineering designed and Anton Schwarzkopf built this popular Shuttle Loop roller coaster. Montezooma's Revenge uses a flywheel to catapult its seven car train out of the station to reach its top speed of 55 mph in just 4.5 seconds. The train then travels through a 76-foot, 360-degree loop before it ascends a 148-foot tall spike where it momentarily comes to a stop. Reversing directions the train descends the spike, repeats the loop and passes through the station to climb a 112-foot tall spike on the opposite end. Reversing directions once again the train descends the rear spike and returns to the station.
