Six Flags Great America

The world's first inverted roller coaster, Batman The Ride was introduced to the world by Six Flags Great America in 1992. This revolutionary roller coaster designed by Bolliger & Mabillard of Switzerland uses state-of-the-art thrill ride technology to create an amazing ride experience. Special ski-lift style chairs are suspended from an overhead tubular steel track. Riders sit in seats that allow their feet to dangle free beneath the train. Batman The Ride takes riders on a 2,700-foot long hair-raising journey at speeds reaching 50 mph through five inverting elements - two vertical loops, a first of its kind zero-gravity heartline spin and two corkscrews in just two minutes. To theme this roller coaster Six Flags uses superhero Batman and his comic book setting Gotham City.
