The first of its kind in the United States, Journey to Atlantis incorporates the elements of a roller coaster and water ride and will be SeaWorld San Antonio's fourth roller coaster. The distinguishing feature of this attraction is that riders enjoy part of the coaster while traveling backwards. At the top of the first hill, boats rotate up to 360 degrees, offering riders a view of downtown San Antonio and SeaWorld. Then, they spin to propel riders backwards down the first hill and up a reverse camelback. Boats rotate 45 degrees and are plunged down the final hill, splashing into a lake and through geysers and water spouts. Journey to Atlantis is located on 3 acres between VIVA! and the Nautilus Amphitheater.
